St Louis Zoo

The St Louis Zoo is the best zoo I have been too. Plus it is free, although you have to pay for certain things like the train. But we paid $10 for the safari pass and that got us into everything.

We started off at stingray cove. You can pet and feed the stingrays and they have a couple sharks in there as well but the sharks stayed clustered in the middle.

Then we went to the the children's zoo which is really fun for the kids. You have the usual things like the petting farm, but they also have a park, splash fountains, an indoor play area with more animals you can pet like snakes and gerbils and they even have a play vet clinic.

Laneah is the same height as a river otter:)

We went to a bird show and Laneah got picked to come up and assist. There was an egg in the box and they had to weigh the egg down with sand to see how much pressure it could take before it cracked. Each bucket held two pounds of sand and I think the egg didn't break until there was sixteen pounds of sand on it.

The girls really liked being able to pet the different kinds of animals.

The girls could have stayed in the clinic for hours.

After the children's zoo we rode the train to see the cats. The girls loved the train and we rode it several more times throughout the day.

Our safari pass also included a 4-D movie spin off of Happy Feet. It was really cool. I was nervous that Brooklyn might not like it but she loved it. As soon as it ended she yelled "more!" She did not want to leave.
Laneah was most excited to see the zebras and giraffes.

The hippos were my favorite. Normally they just sit there, but this time they were swimming, kicking and coming right up to the kids and blowing bubbles. I kid you not they would come right up to the window and get eye level with the kids like they were playing with them. All the kids were laughing so hard.

Laneah has big feet but the elephant's are bigger;)
We were surprised and excited to see the that zoo had dole whip! They had pineapple, vanilla and raspberry. We tried the pineapple and raspberry swirl and it was so good.
The last thing we checked out was the brand new sea lion sound. You go right underneath the water where the sea lions play and they are all around and above you. It is really cool, but since it is new it was a wait to get in and then you had to hurry through. It was still worth it.
By that point we were ready to leave but we had to ride the train again for the girls which was fine since we had a long walk to the car. We were really lucky because the weather was wonderful that day and the zoo wasn't very crowded because school had started back up. It was a fun day at the zoo.
