Strausburg Railroad

On September 15, we went to Pennsylvania for the day. First we went to Strausburg Railroad. It is in Lancaster county which is Amish country. The scenery is beautiful and the girls got a kick out of seeing all the horses and buggies. There were several road side stands with the Amish selling different homemade goodies. When we got to the railroad it was pretty busy, but only because  they had Thomas the Train there that day pulling one of the trains. Luckily my girls like Thomas, but don't care enough to  ride him, just seeing him was enough. We got on the 11 o'clock train and headed out. I love train pictures and I did some editing to a few pictures to make them even better.
This is the inside of the train. We just took the coach ride. They also have other options including a dining car. They also have events like wine and cheese and a murder mystery dinner. I would love to do the murder mystery sometime.

Laneah tried her hand at photography and took the following two pictures.

The train stops on the way back at a beautiful picnic area and a farm that looked like lots of fun. We missed the stop so after the train ride we had to drive over there. On the way we stopped at a roadside stand and got some homemade root beer and whoopie pies to go with our picnic lunch.
Isn't the view amazing? And the weather was perfect! Sunny and mid 70s.
The train came right by the picnic area.
Laneah found a lady bug friend.
The picnic area had swings, a merry go round and see saws. Brooklyn had to be forcibly removed by Jason after spinning for 20 minutes on the merry go round; she did not want to get off.
The girls wanted to play at the farm festival, but we didn't have time because we had more fun planned for the day. We were meeting some friends at Hershey. More on that next:)

This looks so much like the train we rode! They also do the same "adult" activities. Maybe in a few years... You're right--the scenery was beautiful. And with those cute girls of yours plopped right in the middle of it...picture perfect.
