Laneah at 4 1/2 years

I can't believe it has been half a year already and Laneah is 4 1/2. This little girl is full of adventure and curiosity. She reminds me a lot of Ariel from the Little Mermaid. This is what has been happening in the life of Laneah:

*She got a new bike to ride around and she loves showing it off.

*My favorite thing she says right now is "Super Rooper". She will say things like "that's super rooper cool mom!"
*She likes taking pictures on my iphone and sometimes we get some cute shots in there.

*She likes to talk with characters in books rather than read them. She will bring me a Barbie book and say, "mom, I want to talk to Barbie" which means I get to be Barbie while Laneah talks about everything under the sun. She is a chatterbox.

*Laneah knows several sight words and is working on sounding out words that she doesn't know. She can also spell about 6 words. I think she would know more but she really doesn't care for reading and so we don't get a lot of practice time.

*She finished soccer and was thrilled it was over. She threw her hands in the air and yelled "yes! yes! yes!"while punching the air when she found out there was no more soccer. She told me to never sign her up for anything that made her run again. lol.
*We had family pictures done so Laneah had her first visit to a salon to do her hair with her Aunt Jen. Jen has done her hair before, but never at the salon. Laneah liked it at first but got a little antsy and bored at the end. She did good though.

*This little princess loves princesses and she loves to pretend to get married so when we went to the Disney store and this Cinderella wedding dress was on clearance I couldn't resist getting it for her. She is so excited to go to Disney World next month.

*Laneah has been doing really well with her swimming. She is jumping off into the deep end (with floaties still, but that's ok) and then swims to the other side of the pool. She mostly needs to work on floating.

*My friend Melissa and I took our girls to see Brave, the newest Disney movie. The princess in the movie is Scottish and has a thick accent. Ever since Laneah has seen the movie, she pretends she is Princess Merida all the time and I get to play various characters from the movie. Once time while I was playing Merida's mother, the Queen, and she said to me "mom, look out the witch is going to cast a spell on you" and I replied "only because you asked her too" and she said "But mom! I had to change my feet! (while looking at her feet) " In the movie Merida says "I have to change my fate" but the combination of the accent and the fact that Laneah does not know what fate means, lead her to conclude that the whole point of the movie was about feet. I could not stop laughing.
*Laneah is very musically inclined. She loves singing, dancing and all instruments. Her newest obsession is turn tables. She takes the cd player out of Brooklyn's room, opens the top and scratches a cd around and calls it her turn tables.

Laneah continues to be a little spit fire and she really challenges me but she has such a good little heart and I really do love her.

Brooklyn at 2 years, 5 months

Brooklyn is getting to be a big girl! She is growing so tall and is still a little string bean. She is talking up a storm now and can repeat most words, but when she tries to say multiple words she kind of rushes through it so it is hard to understand sometimes. Speech therapy has been great for her though. These are a few of her new words:

*"mummies"- money. She is obsessed with money; especially coins. Ninety percent of the time she has money in her hand. I didn't have a problem with it because she never put it in her mouth. But then came the day when Jason was watching her and while changing her diaper she swallowed a penny. It was scary; she chocked and cried for a while but she was ok. I called the doctor and they said to wait it out and sure enough, two days later....NOT fun.

*Meant- mint. You may or may not remember that from a young age, this strange child loved altoids. Well, she still does and any kind of mint for that matter. She will raid my purse for "meants".

*"but"- button

*"amals"- animals. She knows all the main animal sounds now and can say the animals names as well.

*"Where ___" with hand gesture. Where daddy?, where mommy?, where doll?, etc.

*"Abba daba" - abracadabra. She will say this while swinging a wand around.

*"duck"- stuck and yuck. She loves to pretend her arm is stuck and she will say "duck! Oh no!" and then I will say "oh no" and grunt and pretend to pull really hard but can only get it after several tries, and when I pull it out she will laugh and laugh. She would play this all day if she could. She will also say "foo, dat cose" (phew, that was close).

"Fowah"- flower

"bu fi" butterfly

*Ever the sweet tooth, her other favorite food is cheese. I wouldn't be surprised if she turned into a giant cheese stick;)

*She still loves playing with dolls. She likes to rock them, feed them and just be a mommy. One day I found her with her doll, changing pad, wipes and a diaper. She was getting ready to change the baby's diaper!

*Brooklyn likes all kinds of rides, but this is still her favorite.
*Brooklyn cracks me up with her pretend play. She has such a vivid imagination. I love that she can play by herself too. I found her "riding" this little horse with a cowgirl hat on saying "hee haw!" (yee haw)
*One of her favorite toys is her baby doll stroller. She also likes her little shopping cart. She likes to play in her kitchen and make food for us to eat. She will bring us plates of play food and say "rebby" (ready) and then have us eat it.

*Brooklyn always has at least one purse or backpack full of random items on her person. Whenever she puts on a backpack she has me sing the Dora backpack song and she sings along with me.
*When we are in the car, Brooklyn seems to think she is in charge of the radio. If a song comes on that she does not like she will say "no!no!no!" and if I pass a song she likes she will freak out until I go back to that song. Seriously!
*Brooklyn is going through a terrible separation anxiety phase right now and she wants me to be with her all the time. The next room is too far and she has to not only know where I am at all times, but be where I am all the time.
*One rainy day we made pink lemonade cookies. Brooklyn really liked frosting them. She is very independent and she also insists on helping me with different cooking/cleaning things so she enjoyed being able to make the cookies with Laneah and I.
......and eating them of course;)

Brooklyn is a sweetie. She loves people and attention. She can be stubborn but she sure gives amazing hugs and kisses!

Breezy Point Beach

A couple of weeks ago we met our good friends at Breezy Point Beach. It is a bay beach, but one of the nicer ones. The weather was hot and sunny but low humidity so it was perfect with the chilly water. We ended up being there for 4 1/2 hours and probably would have been there longer if it had been up to the girls. They had the time of their lives in the water and playing on the sand. Laneah spent the majority of her time in the water, and Brooklyn was spent half the time in the water and the other half in the sand. Laneah didn't waste any time and jumped right in.
Brooklyn took her time and thought maybe she could float on the sand.

 "I'm swimming!!!"

 Brooklyn's getting closer...

 And into the water:)

She is so careful and precise when doing things. She takes her time, whereas Laneah is in such a hurry, always worried she is going to miss something.

 Jessica and Sienna.

Laneah has been asking to go back every day. She loves the water now. We all had so much fun and we can't wait to go to some nice Florida beaches!
