Swim Lessons

The girls have been taking swim lessons at Kids First Swim School. I like this place because the pool is heated:) Laneah is in a Level 2 class where she is learning to hold her breath under water and how to float. Brooklyn is taking a mommy and me class, although usually it is Jason that goes with her. They both are doing really well, especially Laneah. The first day the girls couldn't wait to get in the pool. Their classes are at the same time at different ends of the pool.
Jason took pictures through the plexiglass so his pictures are a little blurry. I love this picture. The instructor was teaching her how to hold her breath and close her eyes so she could go under the water.
Laneah getting a high five from her instructor.
Brooklyn and I at mommy and me class.

Brooklyn with daddy, waving to mommy.
 She is so affectionate.
The mommy and me classes always starts with a different fun song that gets the kids splashing and enjoying the water.
Then they play different games to get wet and have fun in the water.
 Laneah learning how to float.

Laneah giving me a thumbs up. She gives me a hard time about going every week, but loves it once she is there.

Leaning out to give me a high five for doing so awesome.
I will keep doing sessions with Laneah until the summer when I can teach her in the pool myself, but for now she is doing so well and I am so proud of both my girlies.

The Baltimore Zoo

A couple of weeks ago we went to the Baltimore zoo with Laneah's preschool class. We hadn't been there before because it is an expensive zoo and the DC zoo is free so we usually go there. Laneah couldn't wait to go. It was HOT though, almost 90 degrees. The good news was that Jason was able to take off most of the day so he could come with us to the zoo.
The class getting geared up to go inside.
First we saw the polar bear. The kids were running all over the place. They were all so excited.
They had these cute white foxes. Laneah said to me "where's swiper?" (from Dora, lol)
Cute little Brooklyn was determined not to miss a thing.

The great thing about this zoo was how close you could get to the animals. Plus it wasn't crowded at all so the kids got good views of everything.

When we passed the cheetah again it was taking a nap right at the window!

Brooklyn had to give the "kitty" kisses.
Then came my favorite part when the girls got to feed the giraffe.
Laneah laughed and laughed when the giraffe ate from her hand. She thought it was the coolest. Brooklyn liked it too, but just dropped her food in the pin.

Laneah buddied up with her friend Scarlette most of the day. They held hands a lot and it was really sweet.

They had lots of interactive play areas for the kids.

Woolly Mammoth bones in a little cave they had for the kids to explore.

This was a slide made from a giant tree. We lost about 30 minutes here:)
The girls only got to brush the goats for a few minutes because it was time to go. Brooklyn insisted on brushing every single goat for a few seconds.

 "Yee Haw!"
We didn't get to ride the train, but we rode the tram back to the entrance and the girls didn't know the difference.
Brooklyn promptly fell asleep in the car, which she NEVER does. She was worn out.
It was a hot day, but it was fun.

Laneah at 4 years, 4 months

Time is just flying by. Poor Laneah has been suffering from terrible allergies. The doctor had to increase her past the maximum dose to keep her from swelling but it made her so moody. So we are trying a combination of allergy medicine now. Hopefully I can decrease it as soon as the pollen level goes down. But her allergies have not slowed her down a bit. She is still the energizer bunny with her own agenda.
*Laneah would do crafts all day if she could.

*Laneah gave her 1st talk in sacrament meeting at church. I went up to share my testimony and she wanted too as well. I went to the microphone with her. We have the scripture movies and her favorite one is the story of Joseph Smith and his hurt leg. So I was helping her talk about this and she said "I don't need help, I know it mom!", which got some chuckles. So I stepped back and she just stood there, because little miss independent didn't really know what to say, lol. I helped her finish and she was so proud of her testimony. It was really sweet and cute.

*This little girl likes to play 20 questions. And I am not talking about the game, she just asks lots and lots of questions to anyone and everyone. She will grill people, seriously.
*This is such a funny video clip. I am the music leader in primary at my church and I recently taught the kids the song 'Follow the Prophets' before general conference. Laneah had been singing the chorus all week and so I was trying to get her to sing it on video and when I turned it on, instead of singing "follow the prophet", she sang "follow Thomas S Monson" (the curent prophet). It was so cute and true too:)
*Always the social butterfly; the more friends the better.

*At the kite festival in DC
*Laneah has been learning about dinosaurs in preschool so we went the the Natural History Museum in DC one day to check out the dinosaur bones. Both the girls liked the museum.

*Laneah wrote her first word all by herself. She was watching a Leap Frog movie and came in the kitchen to show me that she had written the word fun.
*She is still a little cowgirl at heart. As long as she doesn't start blasting country music, I'm ok with it.
That is all I can think of right now; I am just happy to post anything this month:)
Laneah keeps us on our toes and we sure do love her.
