Sawyer 5-6 months

Rolled back to tummy Jan 4th
about 5 1/2 months he stopped crying in the car seat
no more swaddling, we couldn't swaddle him in the hospital and so he got out of the habit
puts everything in mouth, but still doesn't like pacifiers although no one believes me and still try to to stick one in his mouth like I'm lying or something
got out the jumper
blows raspberries
hates tummy time
After the hospital, Twinkle Twinkle wasn't his favorite song anymore. I sang it to comfort him so many times when he got stuck or was getting something done to him that he didn't love it anymore:( Now his favorites are Bushel and a Peck and Old MacDonald.
He is starting to have some interest in books
He wants our cell phones more than his bottle sometimes
He is a social drinker and likes to gurgle his milk. He will fill his mouth, smile and then gurgle several times during each feeding and he is very proud of his trick.
He isn't super ticklish, he usually just squirms, but he will laugh if you tickle his ribs.
He likes to play patty cake and be bounced on your knee
He wants to talk and play with his reflection in the mirror
He likes to eat my hair and pull my hair
His favorite spot is his changing table. Unless he is really hungry, you can always get lots of smiles when he is on his changing table.
He laughs when I make silly faces and make sounds with my mouth

I had to get a bum shot

I have never had a child admitted to the hospital up to this point in my life. Laneah came to the ER once, but wasn't admitted. Leave it to the boy right? He had been sick since Salt Lake with pink eye, a cough and runny nose. Unfortunately, it turned into Bronchiolitis and then pneumonia. He was breathing so fast and struggling to get any air. Luckily he was not really low on oxygen, but when I took him to the doctor again (the first time was try a nebulizer and treat him at home, monitor his breathing, etc) she sent him straight to the pediatric ER. I was with my mother-in-law thank goodness and she drove us to the hospital (they didn't make us take an ambulance because his oxygen was ok, but told us to go straight there and not to stop). When we got there I started filling out paperwork and my mother-in-law took him out of the car seat to hold him. A triage nurse called someone else back and then walked by Sawyer and heard him breathing, doubled back and listened to him and all of the sudden there were three  nurses and a doctor rushing us to a room and that's when I got scared.

He is so so sweet. After being stuck 5 times for an IV, he still gave me a smile when I pulled out my phone for a picture. I cried so much that night. I knew in my heart he would be ok, but it still broke my heart seeing him in pain and being poked and prodded. They gave him fluids and wanted to monitor his breathing. None of the respiratory treatments worked so they gave him an oxygen blow by so he always had oxygen right next to him. We came to the hospital right when he needed it. His fever spiked and his coughing got worse and after this smile, there were two days that my little angel didn't smile once. The next day, his IV came out and they had to stick him twice more before they finally got it in his hand and I'm so glad they got it in there because the only other option was his head, which would have been awful. He was already wanting to pull on all the wires all over him.

My mom flew in to help out. The girls weren't allowed at the hospital and stayed with my mother-in-law the whole time. This was the worst day.

But he started getting better and after 4 full days in the hospital, we were able to go home.
Wires and needles all out and ready for departure! So happy.

He is honestly, the sweetest, happiest little boy. He wants to be held all the time, but he rewards you plenty with smiles and kisses and a lot of times, drool:)

A Teenager

Brooklyn is still a fashion diva. She likes to wear lots of bright colors and skirts with leggings. Just like when she was little, she collects a bunch of random, small items or toys and fills up bags and purses with her"treasure".

She is super goofy and quirky. She likes to make people laugh and loves to rhyme. She calls me mama chama. She will say random things like "you silly puna chana". Some of her funniest sayings are:
"Chummy cheeks"  She will say about Saywer, "awe!! Look at those chummy (chubby) cheeks!"
"Pritta please" pretty please
"The grink" The Grinch
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking? I am"
"My tummy says I'm full/hungry"
She has a few food allergies, although I can't pinpoint them, that give her hives. She also gets hives every time she gets a fever but she calls them "bee hives"
Sometimes when she says something totally random, we will ask her "where did you hear that?" and she will say "my brain told me!"
Her fake laugh sounds like Janice from Friends
I love her, but the girl can whine. Drives me nutty.
Her favorite place to go is YoLavie (Frozen yogurt) and she still loves her mama. She gives lots of hugs and kisses still, but not as often as she used too.
Anytime there is a picture opportunity, she asks me to take a photo. She also likes to hold hands with mannequins.
Brooklyn is like me, she hates the cold. Most of the time she won't even play in the snow.
And sadly, it was necessary to cut her hair. It looks beautiful, but I do miss it a lot. She loves it though and that's all that matters. She likes to comb and style her own hair now and she likes to use headbands. She likes the band across her forehead though for some reason. Haha.

She made this sweet art at preschool.

She is very imaginative and can play pretend for hours. Sometimes she wants me close by, but not interfering in her play, and other times she says she wants to play by herself and asks me to leave.

Brooklyn still sucks her thumb when she falls asleep but isn't supposed to use it during the day. She falls asleep in the car sometimes still and sleeps well overall. She will sleep until 9-9:30 in the morning if I let her. She still gets in our bed every night.
She is very sneaky, especially when it comes to food. I find candy wrappers under her pillow, and food in all sorts os hidden spaces.
Brooklyn is a great big sister. She loves her brother and most of the time she enjoys helping me take care of him. She is adjusting to being the middle child though and has been having pee accidents again.

I am in awe of this brown eyed beauty and her funny, sweet personality.
