Family Luau Triple Birthday Celebration

I decided to have Brooklyn's family party the Saturday following her birthday (Jan 18th) which happens to also be my mother-in-law's birthday. And I invited my sister who lives in Virginia, and her birthday is Jan 19th. So I just thought we could celebrate everyone's birthday together. Since Kathy (my mil) is very into her Hawaiian roots, a luau was a perfect. We had pulled pork sandwiches, ribs, Hawaiian bread with veggie dip, chips, and fruit with coconut cream dip.
I googled how to pick the perfect pineapple. Best advice ever, I haven't had pineapple this good since Hawaii!
I had so much going on, I asked Megan to be in charge of the games. She and Anthony (my nephew) are very creative and fun with games. First we played pin the coconut to the palm tree. We all laughed hysterically when Tony walked into the other room on his turn.

Kathy and her boyfriend, Beau.

The next game we split into three groups and had to blow up an inflatable surf board and throw rings on the tail.

The last game was the best. We played musical beach towels. In the end it came down to Kenny and Pierson. I don't remember who won, but we were all laughing so hard our bellies hurt.
Each birthday girl got their own desert. Kathy got coconut cake, Brooklyn picked frozen yogurt with toppings she picked from Wegmans (mostly candy), and Christy wanted double chocolate cake.

Kathy had this cutout photo prop she brought over for us to take pictures in.

Kenny had to get in there;)

Me, Christy and Laneah.
Finally it was present time. Brooklyn got a tummy stuffer, some American girl doll stuff and I had ordered her Rapunzel's bridal accessories (veil, bouquet and ring) but it didn't arrive until after her birthday so I just saved it for the big party. She loves pretending to a bride. Check out her face; she was gasping, then screaming, lol.

We got Kathy a book filled with Hawaii stories and recipes.
Laneah and Brooklyn took turns pretending to be brides.

Brooklyn got ready for bed in her matching AGD pajamas Nana got her.
It really turned out to be a blast, I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Happy birthday Christy, Brooklyn and Kathy! Love you all.

Brooklyn's 4th birthday

For Brooklyn's birthday, my mom and mother-in-law bought her an American Girl Doll. We took her to the American Girl Doll store at Tyson's Corner the Saturday before her birthday and Brooklyn picked Josefina.

She also picked out this Elsa nightgown from the Disney Store.
On the morning of her birthday, she requested donuts for breakfast.
I decided to have her friend party on her actual birthday. Brooklyn wanted to have a fairy birthday party.

She invited five friends: Avonlea, Sidney, Charlotte, Kate and Sienna. I gave all the girls fairy wings when they arrived. Then we played our first game. We pretended an evil witch stole the fairy gems and hid them. We had to find them so they could make their magic fairy wands.

I painted wooden wands with sparkly paint before the party and let the girls decorate with gems, stickers, ribbons and buttons.

For lunch we had butterfly sandwiches (PB&J), flower sandwiches (cheese), twigs (pretzel rods), berries, fairy bread (bread with butter and sprinkles) and mini toadstool pizzas.

After lunch we played freeze dance, which is one of Brooklyn's favorite games.

And last we had cupcakes and presents.

Brooklyn got a Tinkerbell cup, a Tinkerbell with a closet full of changeable outfits, a Frozen Elsa scepter, a Frozen sled with a mini Anna doll, a Barbie Nutcracker doll, and a wooden magnet fairy with changeable outfit pieces. She was very excited for all the presents and started playing with the new toys with her friends.

I always let the girls pick what they want to eat for dinner on their birthday. And it wasn't a huge surprise that Brooklyn picked cereal. She is so funny. After dinner we had a google + party with out of town family. Brooklyn opened a few presents that my parents sent her and that Jason and I got her.

Brooklyn had a fun filled birthday. Hopefully it was everything the 4 year old pretend fairy dreamed it would be.
